What Happens When We Stop Asking Questions?
Why discernment matters now more than ever.
Where would we be as a society if we weren’t allowed to ask questions? If we weren’t allowed to seek the truth, challenge perspectives, and engage in debates, what would ultimately happen?
We might end up like Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, or modern-day North Korea.
In totalitarian societies, the media and access to information are often the first things to fall into the government’s hands. All of a sudden, misinformation becomes one of the most significant crimes.
Those who challenge the narrative set up by the State are the worst enemies. They are perceived as troublemakers, disrupting the peace, hindering progress, and going against the community’s interests.
However, I believe that the ultimate goal, or rather the ultimate triumph, is when these regimes can train their citizens not only to self-censor and even call out others, but also to label those who question as the real evil ones.
Or in our society, being called Nazis, fascists, racists, etc.
It’s gaslighting and Stockholm syndrome all in one.
I saw this reflected on social media in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk Memorial Service in Arizona.
Some saw the whole event as nothing more than a Hitler Rally. Others said that the only reason Erika Kirk forgave her husband’s killer was because he was white.
One can clearly see in both of these comments a narrative of identity politics.
Words themselves are twisted and used as weapons to advance a political narrative in the name of goodness and progress, and pulled by a mule named “Obedience”.
Recently, a video surfaced of an older white woman at a protest intentionally trying to decapitate the head of a trump piñata.
The front of her shirt read “MAKA”-”Make America Kind Again.” The back of her shirt said “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Certain narratives will have you believe that killing someone just because they thought differently from you is the highest honor.
They will create a new morality that is consistent with their new order. One that you do not have the right to question. Whether you’re inside it or not.
Check out my friend and fellow writer
’s video on “Unquestioning Obedience”.Here’s the bigger issue: we’re drowning in narratives, labels, and spin. The real question isn’t just “what’s true?” but “how do I filter the noise, stay sane, and actually grow wiser in the process?”
That’s why I created the Wisdom Filter a practical guide you can consume in just a few minutes, as easily as swiping through an Instagram story. It’s designed to help you discern the news and media with clarity and apply those lessons to your own personal growth.
And here’s the best part: it’s Pay What You Want. You can grab it for free, or if you find value in it, you can use it as an opportunity to support my work as a writer. Every contribution helps me keep creating content like this, challenging the status quo, and equipping people like you with tools to think clearly and live freely.
Do you think our society punishes people more today for asking questions than it did ten years ago? Why or why not?

Because of the internet and the growth of social media, more people are asking questions publicly today than any other time in history. I don't believe we're actually being punished more today for asking questions, but it appears that we are. 2Pac said in his song, Me Against The World, "they punish the people that's asking questions," and that was in 1995.
The devil wants us in the dark. The more we ask questions and dig deeper for truth, the more the enemy will work through nonbelievers to attack us. Being a disciple of Christ and embracing truth is the most dangerous thing you can do in this world, and the closer you get to the highest truth, the closer you get to being killed by people who are working for the devil.
